Some of us don’t want to give up our dreams in our working years, and luckily, we don’t have to.
It is up to us to reclaim the spark we had at 17 before we turn 65 and make our 9-5 years all the better.
Some of us simply can’t get excited about hitting the pause button on our sense of adventure between 18-64, when we’re told we’ve done our time and it’s time to retire. We long to travel, explore, create, build, live unconventionally and see what’s out there. Luckily, we crazies aren’t alone.
There are some of us that still have those pesky 16 year old dreams, and those still who don’t want to wait until we are told we can retire to live our desires. We know we can do anything, but we can’t do everything- and sometimes that means shaking the status quo, and for some of us, that means taking the reigns of our financial destiny and making our money work for us not the other way around so we can build the lifestyle we want instead of pursuing stuff.
For people in the FI/RE community, Financial Independence/Retire Early, the concept is simple- save over 40% of your income, invest, and then, with strategy, live off your investments (stocks, real estate, side hustles) and never be forced to work traditionally again unless you want to.
It’s simple- make your life about people and experiences, not about stuff, and you’ll be able to buy the world’s most precious commodity: time.
What would you do if you could buy your life back and an employer wasn’t dictating your ever move? What would you do if you weren’t chained to credit card debt or depending on your boss to ensure you had a rosy financial future?
The Wonder Luster is my journey to reclaim the years between 17 and 65, the years we’re told to work hard so that we can have only our “golden” years back and finally afford to pursue your passions, travel, live debt free and enjoy life. It doesn’t have to be that way.
